Welcome to the update on Pine Crest Swim Camp in Ft. Lauderdale. We are excited to invite you to our 2012 swim camp in the heart of South Florida. Pine Crest Swimming has had some great accomplishments this year, including the most recent accomplishment of 5th place for combined team points at 2012 Spring Southern Zone Sectional Championships. We had over 60 Personal Best Times with our 18 swimmers that traveled to Orlando for the meet. The event had many world class and Olympic athletes such as: Ryan Lochte, Peter Vanderkaay, Ariana Kukors, Julie Stupp, and Amanda Weir. Spots are filling up quickly for Pine Crest Swim Camp. Recognizing Pine Crest Swim Coach David Rodriguez For A Historic Success With Pine Crest Swimming03/13/2012 Today Pine Crest swim coach David Rodriguez was called over by the Pine Crest Swimming team for a surprise. The swim team wished him a "Happy Birthday" (even though it wasn't his birthday), so this turned into a Huge Thank You surprise from the Pine Crest Swim Team. The team recognized Coach David for his outstanding coaching and training that led them to a record breaking and history making successful weekend at the Florida Gold Coast Junior Olympics 2012. Pine Crest swim coach David Rodriguez was extremely pleased by the performance and announced to the team this afternoon "I couldn't be more proud to be your coach. It was an outstanding job by you guys". Pine Crest swimming strives for excellence in our athletes, coaching and staff. We are thankful for such great athletes and coaches that make this such an outstanding program. A list of accomplishments from the Florida Gold Coast Junior Olympics 2012... 49 Pine Crest swimmers participated 263 Best Times were accomplished 89 individual events made finals (top 10) 19 new Club Records were made 3 new Florida Gold Coast Records were made - 50 freestyle (Caroline Nava) - 100 freestyle (Caroline Nava) -200 frestyle relay for 13-14 girls (Marta Ciesla, Alexa Rivera, Miriyam Ghali, Caroline Nava) It was the First time that a 13-14 girl has gone under 23 seconds in the 50 free in the history of Florida Gold Coast. 3 new Number One age group individual times in the country - 50 freestyle (Caroline Nava)- 22.91 -200 Freestyle (Jessica Nava) 1:57.82 -200 Backstroke (Jessica Nava)- 2:09.38 1 new Number One age group relay in the country - 200 freestyle 13-14 girls (Marta Ciesla, Alexa Rivera, Miriyam Ghali, Caroline Nava)-1:35.14 28 Junior Olympic Champions vs only 10 from South Florida 16 Pine Crest Swimmers qualified for the All-Star Team 765 points for the Girls marks the first time a team clears 700 points in a single gender in a 14 & Under Junior Olympics Last year Junior Olympic point total was 659, this year was 1,006! Pine Crest Swimming had 263 Personal Best Times at this past weekend's "14 & Under FGC Junior Olympics" at Coral Springs. Both the individual swimming events and relays scored vital points for the team. Seven records were broken the first night, and then again seven records were broken the second night of Junior Olympics! Another two records were broken on the third night of Florida Gold Coast Junior Junior Olympics: Hank Contich set a new club record in the 50 Backstroke (13-14 boys) with a time of 28.51! A whopping total of 18 records were broken this weekend, the oldest record broken was from 1983 by Jessica Nava in 50 butterfly for 11-12 girls division. On the first day, Caroline Nava set the new Florida Gold Coast Record and Club Record for the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.91. The third night she also set a new Florida Gold Coast Open Record and Club Record for the 100 freestyle (13-14 girls) with a time of 50.63. Pine Crest Swimming is headed to FGC Short Course 14 & Under Junior Olympics this weekend. The Florida Gold Coast Junior Olympics 2012 Short Course Championships is hosted by Coral Springs Swim Club. 12441 Royal Palm Blvd, Coral Springs, FL 33065 Entries: 7 individual events for the meet, but no more than 3 individual events per day. Relays: 2 per team event. All relays on Friday and Saturday will take place in the finals sessions. All Sunday relays will compete in the preliminary session. Prelims: Warmup at 7:30 am, Meet starts at 9:00 am. Finals: Warmup at 3:30 pm, Meet starts at 5:00 pm. Admission: $3.00 each session Heat Sheets: $3.00 each session All swimmers received a shirt for this weekend. All swimmers will wear the shirt Friday and Sunday. This past weekend was the "52nd Austrian Indoor National Championships" where Gottfried (Gotti) Eisenberger qualified for several events. Gotti finished as the 18 and under National Champion for the 50M freestyle and swam in the Open A Finals at night. Gotti also swam the 200M freestyle with a great lifetime best finishing second in the 18 and under's, he went onto finish 5th at night in the Open A Finals. He also swam the 100M freestyle making the Open A Finals at night. Congratulations Gotti. We look forward to hearing more when both Jay and Gotti return to the USA. Click HERE for the full results.
